Tonight was Trunk or Treat at Blake's school. If you don't know what that is (I didn't) cars line up on either side of the street and open their trunks which are decorated for Halloween (some have specific themes) and let the kids trick or treat and visit each trunk. SO FUN! This was our first time ever doing one apparently they are big up north and with churches. We volunteered to be the class trunk, they wanted you to design the trunk around a craft that the kids made. I decided on the theme "The Not So Scary Haunted House", from Mickey Mouse. I thought it would be perfect because Blake loves haunted houses, ghosts, skeletons, bats etc. but only if they aren't too scary.
I came into his class and made hand print spiders with the kids and foam pumpkins and used them in the design.
We hand made the haunded house out of plywood spray painted it black and glittered the door orange and the roof and shutters green. Then hot glued the roof line with candycorns and added little touches like the light up skeleton door knob, webbing, flying bats, a stone path with rocks, moss leaves and the kids pumpkins in the pumpkin patch and then made the other part of my trunk door the spider web with all their spiders. Almost everything in and it either lit up or talks also. I thought it turned out great!
